Winnifay Ula
"Peggy" Spiker, age 89, formerly of Carman, Illinois, passed away at
10:30 p.m. Thursday December 11, 2014 in the Sandwich Rehabilitation
& Health Care Center in Sandwich, Illinois. She was born May 20,
1925 in Carman, the daughter of Myron T. and Garnett Hahr Waddell. On
July 30, 1948, she married Walter LaVern Spiker in Burlington, Iowa. He
preceded her in death on February 24, 1994.
Peggy lived in
Sandwich for the past five years. While living in Carman, she was first
employed at Midwest Biscuit Company, and later worked at Sylvania
Corporation for many years. She was known as a talented lady who loved
to do sewing, arts and crafts, which she made, displayed, and sold
locally.
Survivors
include a very special niece, Verna Buri of Sandwich, Illinois, one
sister, Betty Rosenow of Stronghurst, Illinois, several nieces and
nephews, several great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and
nephews, and one great great great nephew. She was preceded in death by
her husband, one son, Charles Myron Spiker, three brothers and three
sisters.
The funeral
service for Mrs. Spiker will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday December 16,
2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Pastor Karna
Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Banks &
Beals. A memorial fund has been established for the Sandwich
Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Condolences may be left at
