Mrs. Phyllis LeAnne Greeling, 76, of Galesburg,
Illinois went to meet her Lord at 4:15 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the
Rosewood Care Center.
She was born November 11, 1938 in Macomb, Illinois
to William Ansel and Margaret Wyona Phillips Greeling. She married William S. Patterson in 1960 and
they divorced in 1971.
She is survived by two daughters, LeeAnn (and Jim)
Johnson of Galesburg and Denise (and Jon) Hubbert of Altoona, Iowa; two sons,
Donald William Patterson and Scott Alan Patterson, both of Lake Warren,
Monmouth, Illinois; two grandchildren, Ryan (and Emily) Hubbert of
Indianapolis, Indiana and Amy E Hubbert of Altoona, Iowa; two
step-grandchildren, Bryan Johnson and Amber Johnson; one step-greatgrandson,
Kevin Turner; one sister, Dorothy (and Dean) James of Alexis, Illinois; one
brother, Stanley Ray Greeling of Galesburg; several nieces, nephews and
cousins; and a special friend, K. Phillip Sullivan of Galesburg.
She was a graduate of Rushville (IL) High School,
Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg and Western Illinois University in Macomb
and Brown’s Business College in Galesburg.
She worked in the accounting department at Gale
Products for 12 years before becoming a nurse.
As a nurse she worked at Bridgeway, Cancer Centers of America, several
hospitals and nursing homes. She also
substitute taught for CUSD #205, 217, 202, 238 and 208.
She achieved several awards through the years;
Outstanding Young Women of American in 1968, Who’s Who American Junior College
in 1978, Beta Sigma Phi Women of the Year in 1968.
She was a Literacy Volunteer, Girl Scout Leader,
PTA President, Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Mission President, Red Cross CPR
and first aid instructor, Home Alone for Kids, Mother and Friends of
Development Disabilities.
She was always baking and cooking for
everyone. She loved cooking and reading.
She was a member of the First Church of the Open
Bible.
Memorial services will by 11:00 AM Saturday,
December 13, 2014 at the First Church of the Open Bible with Rev. Mark Dexter
officiating. Visitation will be from
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church.
Burial will be in the Rushville (IL) Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to First Church of the
