She
was born August 17, 1932 in Galesburg, the daughter of Jesus and
Socorro (Alvarez) Cervantez. She married Glenn E. McCune, Sr. on July
31, 1954 in Galesburg. He passed away on July 16, 1972. She also was
preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Bartie is survived by two daughters, Bev (Don) Links of Decatur and
Cathy (Troy) Ziegler of Rio; three sons, Glenn E. McCune Jr. and Dave
McCune both of Abingdon, and Mike (Lori) McCune of Galesburg; her
grandchildren, Michael (Erika) Curtis, Kristy Owens, Bobby (Morgan)
Dunn, Matt Dunn, Amanda McCune, Joshua McCune, Zachary McCune, Brandon
(Marisa) McCune, Brittani McCune, Nathan Perez and Lucas Ziegler; her
great-grandchildren, Trenton, Colton, Brogan, Brooklyn, Branson &
Joey; two brothers, Wallie (and the late Lucy) Cervantez of Nashville,
Tennessee and Ray (Julia) Cervantez of Galesburg; four sisters, Cecilia
Shipp of Henderson, Jennie (Mike) Pacheco of East Moline, Mary (John)
Dela Cruz of Moline, and Lucille (Wayne) Bergstad of Bergen, North
Dakota; one sister-in-law, Nancy McCune of Galesburg; one
brother-in-law, John Harvey McCune of Rancho Cordova, California; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family who she loved
dearly. She also enjoyed calling and visiting her neighbors and
friends who were all special people to her. “God Bless Them.” She held a
special place in her heart for a special neighbor, Jean, who was always
there for her, and for Marie, who was a life-long friend and whom she
shared so much with. She loved cooking and baking, working puzzles,
reading, and she especially loved watching sports.
She
worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Research Hospital in Galesburg.
She retired from the Care Center of Abingdon. She was a member of the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society.
Praying of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday,
January 17, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 506 N. Main St.,
Abingdon. Father William Miller, I.C. will officiate. Burial will be
in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at
the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
