Bush, Norma Jean was a lady and a
lady never reveals her age, of Monmouth, died peacefully surrounded by her
family on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Norma was born in Galesburg, IL
on January 18th. She was the
daughter and only child of Harold and Babe (Chard) Smith. She was reared and educated in Galesburg and
would often tell stories about hanging out and sometimes sweeping the floors at
her Dad’s meat market, Perless Market” on the square in Galesburg.
Norma married John G. Bush on
June 1, 1945 in a double ring ceremony with her cousin, Mary & Robert
Peterson of Knoxville, IL. John preceded
her in death on May 8, 1998.
They moved to Monmouth in the
early 50’s where they owned Bush Collection Agency for over 20 years. While John was busy with the business, Norma
prided herself in her home and their three children. Her hobbies and interests were: Talking on
the phone with friends, Writing letters, Playing Card, Traveling, Camping at
Lake Warren, Playing Slot Machines and of course, Shopping.
Norma will be missed by her
children, Jackie (Dan) Roten of Washington, IL, Donna (Howard Jr.) Scott and
one son, Michael (Jackie) Bush both of Monmouth. Six grandchildren, Michael
Boyd, Joel Cohen, Shawn (Tudne) Scott, Carissa (Andy) Scott Doyle, John
(Stephanie) Bush and Seth Bush. Five
Step grandchildren, Tammy, Danny and Tina Roten, Kathleen (Ryan) Petri and
Stephan Gonzales. Seventeen Great
Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren.
Norma was proceeded in death by
her parents, husband and one daughter, Ruth Ann.
Funeral services will be 11:00
a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at McGuire & Davies funeral Home and Crematory,
Monmouth. Burial will be in East Linwood
cemetery, Galesburg. Friends may call
Friday morning where her family will be present from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu
of flowers memorials can be left to Courtyard Estates of Monmouth. For more
