Beloved Husband and Father
Rowland Grant “Pat” Crummer, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois, while in his home
surrounded by his family, made a peaceful transition into Spirit on Saturday,
January 3, 2015 at 4:09 pm.
Known for his beautiful quick
witted sense of humor, Pat was born December 12, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois the
son of Raymond Andrew and Lola Naomi Brooks Crummer. He married Phyllis Jane
Good on September 15, 1951 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are his two
daughters, Leslie Williams of Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Kelli Jareaux of
Washington, DC; his nephew who was raised as a son, Keith (Maria) Barker of
Chino, California, and his niece who was raised as a daughter, Cynthia (Wickie)
Lyons of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sisters, Ada May Matthews and Jane Ann
Eason both of Aurora, Colorado; several nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law,
Elizabeth Means of Galesburg, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and
one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and one
brother, Raymond Crummer.
Pat served in the US Army
during WWII.
He worked as a line crane operator
for Butler Manufacturing for 40 years, after graduating from Galesburg High
School. He was a member and a trustee of the Allen Chapel AME Church. He
enjoyed reading, bowling and spending time with his family, especially his wife
Phyllis.
Funeral services are
scheduled for Noon Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson West
Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Kelli Jareaux and Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 pm Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be
in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allen Chapel AME Church.
