William Robert "Bill" Frakes

Mr. William Robert “Bill” Frakes age 88 of Galesburg formerly of Rockford, Ill. died Saturday January 3, 2015 at Seminary Manor Nursing Home.

He was born April 13, 1926 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Edgar “Harry” and Mildred Patterson Frakes. He married I. Marie Alberti in 1963 in Rockford, Ill. she preceded him in death March 28, 2009

Bill is survived by one step-son Steven Lyons of Rockford, Ill., one step-daughter Rebecca Lyons of Aurora, Co., one brother James Frakes of Galesburg, Ill., one sister Mary Frakes Kramer of Decatur, Ill., two nephews Doug and Karen Frakes of Dahinda, Ill., and Mike and Cinda Hickman of Decatur, Ill., two nieces Pam and Kit Frakes Wilcox of Galesburg, Ill., and Bobbi and Chris Pierson of Pekin, Ill., and a special Cousin Pat Strode of Galesburg, Ill.

He attended the University of Illinois and George Washington University. He served in the Army Infantry as a PFC for two years during WW2 and was stationed in Europe. Bill worked in building construction for Butler Systems for 52 years retiring in 1996. He lived in Galesburg, Washington DC, Chicago, Springfield, Ma., Minneapolis, Mn., Rapid City, SD., Rockford, Ill., and Tampa, Fl..

He was baptized and confirmed at East Main Congregational United Church of Christ. He was a member of the VFW Post 9759.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Thursday January 8, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel Galesburg with Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 PM at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission or the East Main Congregational Church.
