Shirley A. Kalb, 85, of
Galesburg, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 in the
emergency room of Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born September 2,
1929 in Ellisville, Illinois the daughter of Walter and Hazel
(Knickerbocker) Dallefeld. She married Clifford E. Kalb October 23,
1948 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death January 26, 2004.
She is survived by a
daughter, Patty Hebard of Galesburg; a son-in-law, Jim Gillenwater of
Drums, Pennsylvania; three grandsons, Eric (and Kelly) Gillenwater,
Matt (and Kendal) Hebard, and Joel Hebard; four great grandchildren,
Henry, Evelyn, and Tadhg Hebard and Keira Gillenwater; and one
nephew. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her
parents; a daughter, Jean Ann Gillenwater; a great grandson, Walter
Hebard; two sisters; and a brother.
Shirley graduated from
Avon High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at Osco’s in
the 1960’s. Shirley enjoyed her home, updating its décor and
keeping it clean.
Graveside service will be
2 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Jim
Ecklund will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online
