Dale Eugene McGuire

Dale Eugene McGuire age 78, of Galesburg, IL, died at 7:27 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Methodist Unity Point Hospital, Peoria, IL.   

 

Dale was born on November 17, 1936 in Little York, IL, the son of John Henry and Mary Elizabeth Young McGuire.  He first married Joyce Humes on September 10, 1957 in Monmouth, IL.  He later married Mary Treadway on October 24, 1985 in Galesburg, IL and she survived. 

 

Dale worked in maintenance at the Alton Box Factory and also was a gun dealer.  He owned and operated D & M gun shop in Galesburg for many years.  He was a member of the NRA. 

 

Dale is survived by his wife, Mary; his children: Rita McGuire (Jack) of Galesburg, IL, Connie Henson (Tom) of Burlington, IA, Cheryl (Jeremy) Lough of Letts, IA,  Bonnie Simpson of Galesburg, IL, Mary (Troy) Weingart of Burlington, IA, Eileen Fitchpatrick of Galesburg, IL, and Roberta (Steve) Kemp of Galesburg, IL; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-eight great grandchildren; and various cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julie Fitchpatrick; two grandsons, Christopher Fitchpatrick and Timothy Roark, JR; one great granddaughter, Emmalee Simpson; and two brothers, William and John “Pete” McGuire. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, IL.
