Thelma B. Watters Pennington

Mrs. Thelma B. Watters Pennington, 86, of Galesburg died at 9:15 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

She was born March 31, 1928 in Lewistown, Illinois the daughter of John A. and Edith Grigsby Shaw. She married Medill A. Watters on March 29, 1978 in Centralia, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1997. She later married L. Kenneth Pennington in Galebsurg on March 27, 1998. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2001.

She is survived by one step daughter, Dianna (James) Prichard of Bartonville, Illinois and four generations of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one step daughter, Karen Banks, three brothers and five sisters.

She worked in the dieatary department for the former Galesburg Mental Health Center and also the former Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria for over 26 years, retiring in 1988. She was a very talented musician. She was a member of the OAKS and the Galebsurg Women’s Club. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 in Calvary Assembly of God Church. Pastor Jeff Morrow will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Church.
