John M. Zefo, 63, of Galesburg passed away at
3:15 p.m. Thursday, February 19 at the Iowa Veterans Hospital.
John is survived by his mother, Helen; his children, Jon R.
Zefo of Galesburg, Anna Zefo of Galesburg, and Dustin (Rachel) Johnson of
Galesburg; his brothers, Joseph Zefo, Nicholas Zefo, and Patrick Zefo; sisters
Mary Zefo, Christy (Dean) Huffman, and Amy (JJ) Coe; his grandchildren,
Johnathan, Dominique, Donovin, and Justice; as well as many cousins, nieces,
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lacy Zefo as well
as his father, John Zefo.
John proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict
with the United States Marine Corps from August of 1968 until August of 1970.
He worked primarily as a commercial roofer, and was an avid drummer and singer for
his whole life. He also served as the president of the Galesburg Blues Society.
He was a proud member of the NRA, and he will be remembered for the wonderfull
time he spent living in Colorado for several years.
Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life and a Graveside
Service are scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be made to the Defenders
of Freedom Veterans Home and Shelter. Expressions of sympathy may be given to
