Lois
Mabel Ruddell, age 93, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 2:33 A.M.
Wednesday February 18, 2015 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg,
Illinois.
Lois
was born on January 13, 1922 in McDonough Co., Illinois, the daughter
of Fredrick and Gladys Vail McNeil. She attended and graduated from
Wataga High School, Wataga, Illinois. She married Claude H. Ruddell on
September 24, 1942 in San Francisco, California and he preceded her in
death on March 16, 1996.
She
is survived by her two sons, Stephen Ruddell of Inverness, Florida and
John Ruddell of rural Knoxville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Misty
Ruddell of Galesburg, Illinois, Stephen Ruddell, Jr. of Anchorage,
Alaska, Stephanie (Rick) VanWinkle of Memphis, Tennessee, Mark Ruddell
of Hope Sound, Florida, and Sachiko Ruddell of Kansas City, Missouri;
two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, two sisters, Freda and Leah and two brothers, Fred and Glenn.
She
attended Western Illinois University on two occasions, receiving her
teaching certificate and then her nursing certificate. During World War
II she taught at the former Fosmyer School, and then worked for the
Galesburg Mental Health Research Hospital for 30 years.
She
was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Galesburg, Illinois.
She enjoyed fishing, sports, sewing, knitting, cooking, riding
four-wheelers and spending time with her loved ones.
