Martha
I. Swanson age 90 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:30 P.M. Sunday,
February 8, 2015 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
She
was born March 17, 1924 in Williamsfield, Illinois, the daughter of
Earl S. and Alcye Anderson Willard. She was raised by Seth and Alcye
Hudson. Martha first married in Jack L. Horn on August 1, 1942 in
Missouri; she later married Martin M. Swanson on April 26, 1974 in
Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Martha
is survived by one son, Steven W. Horn of Galesburg, Illinois; four
daughters, Rebecca Sjoman of Wasa, Wisconsin, Damaris J. Horn of
Galesburg, Illinois, Sarah (Paul) Davis of Galesburg, Illinois, and
Nancy (Robert) Hick of Galesburg, Illinois; two sisters, Mary McNeil of
Galesburg, Illinois and Linda Glasnovich of Galesburg, Illinois; eight
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
Martha
worked as an aide at the Galesburg Mental Health Research Hospital
until it closed. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and
the Red Hat Society. Martha volunteered with Hospice and at the Stone
Hayes Center. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Martha was of
Lutheran faith.
Cremation
rites will be accorded and no services are planned. The Hurd-Hendricks
Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is assisting the
