Ethel Louise Cherrington, 80, of Galesburg, died at 2:32 P.M on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at her home.
She
was born on August 28, 1935 in Dahinda, Illinois the daughter of Gardie
I. and Vada G. Willison Cherrington. She was raised in Appleton,
Illinois and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953. She served
two years in the United States Air Force.
Ethel
is survived by her son, Danny J. Mendenhall of Portland, Oregon; three
nieces, Cynthia J. Andrews of Monmouth, Illinois, Dr. Patricia A.
(April) Kinne of Oskalossa, Iowa, and Renee A. (Larry) Winchel of
Galesburg, Illinois; one nephew, Thomas D. (Joyce) Beckmann of Kenner
Louisiana; two great-nephews; Patrick G. Kinne of Galesburg, Illinois,
Christopher S. (Amrita) Kinne of Laurel, Maryland; one great-niece, Lara
J. Kinne of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister, Madge G. (Hank) Pakootas
of Inchelium, Washington; one brother William J. Cherrington of San
Francisco, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Ethel
worked as a CNA at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital in
Galesburg, and St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
She
was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in
Galesburg, Illinois and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285.
Memorial
services will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Galesburg, Illinois. Rev.
Martha-Jean Fitch officiating. Private burial will be in Westfall
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ), Galesburg, Illinois or the Ralph M. Noble
American Legion Post #285. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory,
