Helen Josephine Haynes, 92, of Galesburg, died peacefully Wednesday September 2, 2015 at home.
Helen
was born August 23, 1923 in Council Bluffs, IA the daughter of Verle
and Alice Mae (Cordrey) Hoff. She married Harvey R. Haynes in 1941. He
preceded her in death in 1967. Helen is survived by three daughters,
Alice (Roger) Hartshorn of East Galesburg, Carol Haynes of Galesburg and
Connie (Alan) Kelso of Maquon; 7 grandchildren, Sherri, Aaron, Russell,
Jeff, Ronnie, Brian and Annette; 13 great grandchildren, Shelli, Levi,
Jessica, Nathan, Cody, Ryan, CJ, Jennifer, Robbie, Jacob, Haley, Hayden
and Karley; and 11 great great grandchildren, Ryan, Anthony, Cody, Jr.,
Braxton, Jasmine, Kloe, Jackson, Johnathon, Tyson, Sophia and Serenity;
and one nephew, Dick McCulloch. Along with her husband and parents,
Helen was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Helen
was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg for over 60
years. She loved to read, but most of all, Helen loved her family.
Helen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great
great grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family
and friends.
Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned at this time. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the family for a fund to be designated in c/o Carol Haynes, 644 Home Blvd Apt 102, Galesburg, IL 61401. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
