He was born July 4, 1931 in Maquon, Illinois, the son of Ray German and C. Lucille (Dalton) Fitchpatrick. He married Martha A. Fitchpatrick on July 3, 1955 in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Martha; three sons, LeRoy W. (and Paula) German of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Richard A. German of Texas City, Texas, and Gary W. (and Lisa) German of Tacoma, Washington; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a half-sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald D. German Jr. in 1956; a sister Louis Dunn, two half-brothers; and one half-sister.
Donald worked as a union heavy equipment operator for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, the Abingdon American Legion, and D.A.V. in Arizona.
Donald served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West’s Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev.
