VERA J. HORTON

Mrs. Vera J. Horton, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:39 pm Monday, December 7, 2015 in Unity Point Health Peoria, Illinois,

She was born November 3, 1930 in Morrison, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Mabel Twombley Kemmer. She married Delbert L. Horton on July 16, 1949 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2007.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael L. (the late Twyla) Horton, Sr. of Knoxville, Illinois and Jeffrey L. Horton of Galesburg; her two brothers, Robert (and Ann) Kemmer of Arizona and Kenneth (the late Marie) Kemmer of Morrison, Illinois; her sister, Mildred (and Bill) Horaney of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Michael L. Horton, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Elisa (and Jeff) Cecil of Knoxville and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Cecil. She is preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy McIlravey

Vera worked for Office Equipment for 10 years and Gale Wards for 10 years. She was a member of the East Main United Congregational Church.

Graveside service are scheduled for 1:30 pm Friday, December 11, 2015 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mike Blake will officiate.
