Marietta M. Jones, age 92, of Eureka, Illinois, previously of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Eureka Hospital. She was born on May 19, 1923 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Grace (Swan) Froehlich. Marietta attended school in the Aberdeen area and graduated from Warner High School. She later attended business school. On May 11, 1945, Marietta married Everett D. Jones in Aurora, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2000. Marietta began work as a secretary and continued that work at Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen. She lastly worked in the laundry/dry cleaning business from which she retired in the mid 1990's. Marietta enjoyed going to auctions and dining out with Everett. Marietta loved good conversation on the phone and laughing with her friends and having a good time. She much enjoyed spending time with her family. Marietta also did volunteer work at Maple Lawn in Eureka. She is survived by one daughter; Linda (Mike) Avery of Eureka, IL, two sons; Lyle L. Jones of Eureka, IL and Larry E. Jones of Bettendorf, IA, four grandchildren; LeAnn M. (David) Claussen, Jason P. (Theresa) Jones, Tyler E. (Crystal) Jones, Katie (Bill) Valentin, and four great-grandchildren; Makayla Claussen, Aaron Claussen, Lance Jones, and Lewis Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sibling, Marvin Froehlich.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville, Illinois. Visitation is planned for 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
