Mr. Richard E. Knipe, 84, of Knoxville, Ill. formerly of Galesburg, Ill. died 11:40 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born August 8, 1931 in Keokuk, Iowa to Elmer and Golda Mapes Knipe. He married Doloris M. Breeze July 24, 1954 in Fort Madison, Iowa. She preceded him in death December 7, 1991. He later married Ingeborg “Peggy” Werth Kukuk July of 1995. She preceded him in death November 29, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Melvin (and Lisa) Knipe of Oquawka, Ill. and Gary Knipe, a daughter, Betty (and Dave) Pindara of Illinois, two brothers, Robert (and Linda) Knipe of Shenwood, Ark. and Laverne Knipe of Moline, Ill., a sister Ruth (and Art) Muerhoff of Fort Madison, Iowa, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Richard was a machinist for Butler Manufacturing Company, Galesburg for several years. He graduated from Nauvoo High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He enjoyed woodworking.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Rev. Betty Meode will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the House of Prayer Church in Oquawka, Ill. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
