Mrs. Betty A. Howarter, 84,
of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:55 am Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Heartland
Health Care Center.
She was born September 10,
1931 in Prairie City, Illinois the daughter of Ralph H. and Gayle Shields Reed.
She married Dorance D. “Tug” Howarter in Knoxville, Illinois on June 17, 1950.
He preceded her in death on August 9, 2004.
She is survived by her son,
Kim (Nancy) A. Howarter of Elgin, Illinois; her daughter, Chris D. Hanna of Galesburg;
her sister-in-law, Alberta Taylor of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Tricia
Gosch, Natalie Vorass, Matthew Howarter, Ryan Howarter, Brooke Day, Jesus
Flores and Juanita Howarter and eight great grandchildren and two great great
grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two
brothers.
She worked as an assembler
for Gale Products for 11 years. She also had worked for VNA in housekeeping for
4 years. She was a member of the Living
Light Tabernacle Church in Roseville, Illinois and the First Church of the Open
Bible. She graduated from Prairie City high school in 1949.
Graveside services are
scheduled for 1:30 pm Saturday January 30, 2016 in Gilson Cemetery. Visitation
will be 12:00-1:00 pm Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation
will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Center
