Leroy F. Minneman, age 91, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at the Heartland Manor Health Care Center in Paxton, Illinois on Monday evening January 25, 2016 at 8:50 pm. Leroy was born on September 10, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan and is the son of Leroy F. and Emma Lindstead Minneman. He was raised in Blandinsville, Illinois where he attended the Blandinsville High School and graduated with the class of 1943. During wartime he entered and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. Leroy married Phyllis T. Fowler on July 14, 1950 in Monmouth, Illinois and she preceded him in death in October 2013. Leroy was in sales and first worked at Bouseman's Auto Supply of Fountain Green, Illinois. He later was employed by Claremont Street Auto Sales in LaHarpe, Illinois from 1983 to 2008 when he retired. Leroy was a "workaholic" and loved his cars. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Chicago Bulls fan. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Minneman of Champaign, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his parents and his wife.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Monmouth Cemetery. His family plans visitation for the hour prior to the service at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois.
