Danny Lee Campbell, 70, of
Galesburg, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at home.
He was born December 21, 1945,
in Galesburg, the son of Lindy Morris and Dorothy Mae (Smith) Campbell. He married Bonnie Peterson on May 3,
1974. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter,
Lea Marie of Burlington, Iowa; a brother, Michael (and Victoria) Campbell of
Pleasant Hill, Iowa; four sisters, Linda (and Harry) Arvanis of East Moline,
Illinois, Terrie (and Harold) Saline of Galesburg, Cathy (and Lindel) Marsh of
Missouri, and Wendy (and David) Hess of Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Patty
Campbell of Knoxville, Illinois; a nephew, Mark (and Kristine) Peterson;
nieces, Andrea (and Raef) Friedericks, Janeen (and Terry) Meyer, Stefanie (and
Ben) Kimmitt, and Bree (and Mike) Kavanagh; great nieces and nephews, Whitney
(and Scott) O’Sullivan, Alex Peterson, Megan Peterson, Madison Sottos, Sadie
Sottos, Adelynne Meyer, Kennick Meyer, Will Kimmitt, Mike Kavanagh, and Logan
Kavanagh; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Lester and Erma
Peterson; and a brother, Steve Campbell.
Danny was a mechanic, working
at Winkler Standard, May Standard, Midway Auto Parts, and Woody’s Service
Station.
Danny proudly served his
country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. He was a Boatswain Mate 3rd
Class. He was stationed aboard the
U.S.S. Guam while at sea and was a Captain’s Driver while on land. He earned his GED while in the Navy and
attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.
He was a member of the
N.R.A. Danny enjoyed working on his
Corvette and his Camaro. He enjoyed
following sporting events of and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He loved taking them to Chuck E. Cheese and
Fun City.
Cremation will be
accorded. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m.
Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Sunday,
January 10, 2016, at the Henderson Town Hall in Henderson, Illinois. Rev. Vince Marolla will officiate. Memorial contributions in Danny’s name may be
