John M. Wagher

John M. Wagher, age 62, of La Fayette, Illinois died at 11:38 P.M. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on March 2, 1953 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Paul L. and Patricia Myers Wagher. His father preceded him in death and his mother married his beloved stepfather, Jack Shanks. John attended and graduated from Toulon High School in 1972. He married Nancy Everett.

John is survived by his mother, Patricia “Pat” Shanks of Knoxville Illinois; his son, Jack Wagher of Cambridge, Illinois; his twin brother, Clarence Wagher of La Fayette, Illinois, his brother, Danny Wagher of Toulon, Illinois; step-sisters: Linda Tate of Dahinda, Illinois, Vicki (Skip) Butler of Plant City, Florida, Denise Shepherd of Knoxville Illinois, Jackie Diedrich of Sioux City, South Dakota; one stepbrother, Roger (Tanya) Shanks of Springfield, Missouri; and he was preceded in death by is father, step-father, and two brothers, Paul and Jerry.

He began working in home construction, then he began working in fabrication and welding. He has spent the last ten years working for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria has a welder. He was a member of the UAW of Peoria, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services at this time. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
