Joie L. Cokel, 62, of Monmouth,
IL, passed away at 3:45 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at OSF St. Mary
Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.
She was born August 27, 1953 at
Saunders Hospital in Avon, IL, the daughter of Kermit Charles and Bonnie Mae
(Richey) Wainman. She graduated from
Galesburg High School in 1971.
Joie married Julius Cokel in
Monmouth, IL on December 18, 1975 and he survives.
Joie worked at the Kmart in
Monmouth for 16 years and later helped promote the Aledo Raceway for many
years.
Survivors include her husband,
Julius of Monmouth; her parents, Kermit and Bonnie Wainman of Monmouth; 2 sons,
Kris (Gloria) Cokel of Meridian, MS and Tony (Marcy) Cokel of Monmouth;
daughter, Lesli (Todd Fox) Cokel of Monmouth; sister, Jean (Rick Hahn) Main of
Galesburg; brother, Jerry L. Wainman of Jacksonville, IL; grandchildren, Colton
Cokel, Caine Cokel, Maveryk Cokel, Corbin Peterson, Cash Wallace, Josh Cokel,
Hayden Cokel, Justin Wallace, Casandra “Cassie” Wallace; great granddaughters,
Arabella Grace Wallace and Jersey Cokel; nephews, Jeremy Randolph, Travis
Randolph and Brandon Wainman.
She was preceded in death by her
grandson, Calvin Cokel and 1 brother, John T. Wainman.
A Family & Friends Gathering and a Potluck, will be
held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Monmouth VFW Post
#2301 (830 North G St., Monmouth). Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may
be given to the Joie Cokel Memorial Fund. McGuire & Davies Funeral
