Richard D. Dawson, age 68, of Knoxville, Illinois
died at 6:12 A.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical
Center, Peoria, Illinois
He was born on November 9, 1947 at Cottage Hospital
in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Darrell and Mary Watson Dawson. He attended
and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1965. He married Vicki S. Stomberg
on April 27, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Vicki S. Dawson of Knoxville,
Illinois; his mother Mary Dawson of Knoxville, Illinois; two daughters, Amy
Dawson of Knoxville, Illinois and Marci (Brandon “B.J.”) Tyrrell of Galesburg,
Illinois; one granddaughter, Emma Harman of Knoxville, Illinois; one sister,
Connie Dahl of Galesburg, Illinois; three nephews and one niece. He was
preceded in death by his father.
He was a Mechanic for 47 years, he owned and
operated Dawson’s Standard and Service of Knoxville, Illinois. He enjoyed
boating, fishing, NASCAR and snowmobiling.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 3,
2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville,
Illinois. Rev. Michel D. Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00
P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral
Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded
following the services. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of
Knoxville, Illinois; Guardian Angels or to the Knox County Humane Society.
