John L. Stambaugh Jr., age 46, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth,
IL, passed away at 11:40 am on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at River Crossing Rehab
in Galesburg, Illinois with his family at his side. He was born on November 30,
1969 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of John L. and Brenda L. (Perry) Stambaugh.
John attended and received his education from Warren Achievement School in
Monmouth. He later moved to Macomb, Illinois, where he lived in the Mosaic Group
Home for several years. While in Macomb, John worked at the Mosaic Thrift Store
and had several other jobs while there. John loved to eat. He was known by his
family and friends as a great "Jokester". John enjoyed dressing up for
Halloween, scaring people, and going to haunted houses. He also enjoyed Ninja
Turtles and Minions. John loved spending time with his family and friends. John
is survived by his mother, Brenda Perry of Galesburg, IL, three sisters; Sheri
Meehan of Nashville, TN, Patricia Wieter of Camtendon, MO, and Amanda Stambaugh
of Carthage, IL, one brother; Marvin (Donna) Hughes of Kewanne, IL, and several
nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal
grandparents, father, John and one infant brother, Clarence Kyle Stambaugh.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at
Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family will be present to
receive friends from the hours of 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the
