He was born August 14, 1940 in Beardstown, the son of Ervin “Pistol” and Etha Alice Mohlenbruck Stambaugh.
Stash is survived by three sons, Joe (Sarah) Stambaugh of Beason, Doug (Stacy) Stambaugh of Galesburg and Toby Stambaugh of Abingdon; three grandsons, TJ (Amber) Stambaugh of Berwick, William Ervin Stambaugh of Beason and Logan Douglas Stambaugh of Galesburg; one great-grandson, Toby Michael Stambaugh III of Berwick; one sister, Fairy Stambaugh of Abingdon; three brothers, William (Janice) Stambaugh of rural Galesburg, Walter Stambaugh of Galesburg and Alfred Stambaugh; and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron lived in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School. He was an
Electrician and worked for Burlington Northern, OMC and Briggs Manufacturing as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was of the protestant faith and was baptized at the Methodist Church in Abingdon. He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Sons of American Legion. He served as Fourth Ward Alderman for the City of Abingdon. His hobbies included toy collecting, hunting, and fishing, and attending his grandsons events. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
The family honored Ron’s request to allow him to participate in the Gift of Hope Donor Program. As he requested, cremation will be accorded. To celebrate his life, the family will receive relatives and friends on February 28, from 1-3pm at the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
