David Lee Shinn, 33, of Macomb, died unexpectedly at 10:39 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 in a car accident in McDonough County.
He was born April 25, 1982 in Galesburg, the son of DuWayne D. and Marla L. (Adair) Shinn.
He is survived by his father, DuWayne Shinn of Galesburg; his mother, Marla Shinn of Macomb; two sons, Shane Allen Shinn of Bushnell and his mother, Torrie Hillier and Camden Wayne Shinn of Macomb and his mother, Ashley Holt; his maternal grandfather, John C. Adair of Macomb; two brothers, Marc Cookson of Bushnell and John (and Erika Nunez) Shinn of Anthony, New Mexico; a sister, René (and Daryl) Ford of Bushnell; aunts and uncles, Pat and Dan Courtelyou of Bushnell, Scott and Julie Adair of Macomb, and Arlene and Shelby Adams of Winter Haven, Florida; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Betty Adair; paternal grandparents, Ralph A. Shinn Sr. and Mildred Wright; and uncles, Ron McCullough and Ralph Shinn Jr.
David graduated from Metamora High School and attended Carl Sandburg College. He had worked at Galesburg Castings. David enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time with his sons. He participated in roller blading, hockey, soccer, baseball, and basketball. He also helped coach his son’s sports teams. David also enjoyed music, playing the guitar and drums in a band.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wally Holt officiating. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral service. Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to an education fund for his sons. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
