Michael D. Grady, 71, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 1:44 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his home.
Mike was born on August 15, 1944 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Clyde H. and Margurete Carlton Grady. He was raised in East Galesburg and graduated from Knoxville High School. Mike married Ginny Campisi on July 27, 1968 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2000.
Mike was a yardmaster and trainmaster for BNSF Railway, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967.
Mike is survived by two sons, Joe (Kelly) Grady of Chicago, Illinois and Dr. Clyde (Angie) Grady of East Galesburg, Illinois; five grandchildren, Maddy Grady, Cassie Grady, Rachael Flacco, Michael Flacco, Nick Flacco, and his grand-dog Baxter; three brothers, Pat Grady of California, Tom Grady of Knoxville, Illinois, and Tim Grady of Missouri; and one sister-in-law, Dolly Gilliam of Galesburg, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Dennis Grady, and one brother-in-law, Tony Campisi.
The family would like to thank all of their friends for the support shown to them during this time of loss. Special thanks to the Rob Derham family for their friendship shown to Mike. Finally, many thanks to his special caregivers over the last three years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, Illinois. Graveside memorial service will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois. Pastor Tom Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is assisting the family.
