Ruth Margaret Dunlap Sabetti

Ruth Margaret Dunlap Sabetti, 96 of Abingdon, completed her journey to our Savior’s glory on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.   Ruth was the 7th child of 13, born to Louie and Florence Pearl Babb Dunlap on October 29, 1919 in Rantoul, Illinois.
Ruth married Ralph Sabetti of Abingdon, on December 23, 1938 in Champaign, Illinois. She and Ralph operated many businesses in the communities of Abingdon and Bushnell over the years, most notably the Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Bushnell, Illinois from 1964 thru their retirement in the mid 1980’s.
In her younger years Ruth enjoyed raising houseplants and outdoor gardens, fishing and travelling.  She was avidly involved in local sewing clubs and enjoyed artistic crafts.  Nearly everyone she met would receive a ribbon woven cross.  Later in retirement Ruth was a member of a group of ladies who made lap robes for nursing homes.  Well into their 80’s Ruth and her group would make several hundred lap robes each year and distribute them to residents in area nursing homes.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph in 1987, her brothers and sisters Eleanore, Viola, Francis, Donald, Arthur, Dorothy, Helen, Harold, Robert and Lawrence and son in law Ronald Graves. 
Surviving siblings are Elizabeth Rettig of Dunnellon, Florida and Mildred (Robert) Sheets of Murphy, North Carolina.  Also surviving are her children; Sue (Marion) Buchanan of Morton, IL, Louise (Kenneth) Batson, of Avon, IL, Cynthia (Ron dec.) Graves of Galesburg, IL and Ralph (Connie) Sabetti of Beardstown, IL, her grandchildren; David (Stacey) Batson, Mark (Christine) Graves, Tina Graves, Eric (Sarah) Sabetti and Andrea (Darrell) Ratermann, and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday April 1, 2016 from Noon to 1 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 506 N Main Street, Abingdon, IL followed by a Requiem Mass celebrating Ruth’s life at 1 PM.  Interment will follow at Abingdon Cemetery.  The family invites friends to gather for a meal and fellowship following the services at Abingdon Banking Center community room, 805 N Monroe St, Abingdon, IL.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
