Mrs. Lorene M. Johnson, 95,
of Galesburg, Illinois left this life for eternal life on March 25, 2016. She was greatly loved by her family and will
be missed by all who knew her. Born the
seventh child of Albert and Josephine Isaacson in Kirkwood, Illinois, the
family later moved to Raritan, Illinois where Lorene grew up. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in
Stronghurst, Illinois and graduated from Media High School. She became a loving wife to Ray A. Johnson on
October 5, 1940 in Galesburg and assisted her husband in farming near Oneida,
Stronghurst and the majority of their years together on a farm west of
Galesburg. She was a member of Coldbrook
Christian Church where she had taught Sunday School and was involved in many
activities of the church over her lifetime.
In retirement, she and her husband loved to travel and camp. In early retirement, they spent many summers
in Conifer and Steamboat, Colorado and Alamo and McAllen, Texas. Lorene enjoyed being with her family for any
and all occasions. China painting,
handwork, crocheting, reading, tending flowers and watching birds were among
her favorite hobbies. She was a
wonderful role model to all her family and is survived by a son, Lonnie (Ruth
Ann) Johnson of Galesburg and a daughter, Dixie (Norm) Cannon of Monument,
Colorado. She is also survived by six
grandchildren: Kevin (Jodi) Johnson of Galesburg; Dr. Rodney (Wendy) Johnson of
Champaign, Illinois; Kimberly (Steve) Buyck of Liberty, Illinois; Kristine
(Craig) Schmitt of Centennial, Colorado; Michelle (Dale) Jackson of
Indianapolis, Indiana; Jennifer (Philip) Haratsaris of Longmont, Colorado and
14 great-grandchildren: Cami (Ryan) Tapscott of Silvis, Illinois; Jenna Johnson
of Galesburg; Chad Johnson of Surprise, Arizona; Justin Johnson of
Indianapolis; Kara Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; Mackenzie Buyck of Macomb,
Illinois; Rachel Buyck of Liberty; Illinois; Madison and Renee Jackson of
Indianapolis; Cailey and Zachary Schmitt of Centennial, Colorado; Nicholas,
Lucas and Zhuming Haratsaris of Longmont and a brother, Isaacson of
Stronghurst, a Sister-in-law, Marge Isaacson of Peoria, Illinois and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents, an infant sister, five brothers and her husband on July
19, 2003 after nearly 63 years of marriage.
Funeral service will be 11:00
a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Coldbrook Christian Church. Pastor Rick Warren will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday at the church. Burial will be
in Mosher Cemetery in Warren County.
Memorials may be made to Coldbrook Christian Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is
assisting the family with services.
