Randy R. Atkins

Randy R. Atkins, age 63, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at his Monmouth residence on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 9:48 pm. Randy was born on September 2, 1952 in Burlington, Iowa and is the son of William and Elizabeth A. Atkins. He was raised in Monmouth, where he attended Willits, Central, and Monmouth High School from which he graduated with the class of 1970. He then served in Viet Nam in the United States Army during that period. Randy formerly was married to Brenda Osborne. He was first employed at Maytag Corporation in Galesburg, where he worked twenty years on the line and retired upon their closing. He enjoyed working on cars and ran the Ajax Garage from his own home. He loved to do woodworking and repairing of old furniture. He loved gardening, and growing flowers and vegetables. Surviving is one daughter, Jami L. Atkins of Monmouth, Illinois and one son, Christopher Atkins out in California. Two grandchildren also survive, Preston and Miranda Atkins. A number of Aunts, Uncles, and other relatives are also surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents.

A gathering of his family and friends is planned on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation has been accorded.
