Richard L. Morris, 75, of rural Maquon, Illinois passed away at 11:04
a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
He was
born to Gertrude (Timmons) and David Morris on December 29, 1940.
He
attended Santa Monica High School in California and Carl Sandburg
College in Galesburg studying accounting and business law. Richard
is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps in Special Services.
He spent much of his life in the agriculture industry as a landman
and land manager working in Oklahoma, Indiana, Texas, and Illinois.
Never truly retiring, his last twenty-five years were spent working
on the farm. He most enjoyed spending time with his animals, being a
caretaker of the land, bookkeeping, fixing things, driving his truck,
and good food.
He is
preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by
those who loved him: his soul-mate of twenty-five years, Marilyn J.
Carr (rural Maquon) who was the person he could “trust and grow old
with;” Jane L. (Carr) and Rodney S. Carman (rural Gilson); Kenneth
G. and Stan Carr-Kedziorski (Bartlett); his grandchildren Leslie R.
Carman (rural Gilson) and Dakota D. Carman (Normal); and Pearl,
Wonder, and Fluffy. Richard considered Dr. Carl Strauch his best
friend. With a deep belief in God, Richard held his cross every
morning and night asking God to watch over those in need, his family,
those who worked for him, and Marilyn. He passed trusting that
Marilyn’s network of immediate family, friends, neighbors,
professionals, and God would watch out for her well-being, as this
was his biggest concern.
Guests
