Audrey L. Sprout

Audrey L. Sprout, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 7:55 PM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Roseville Nursing and Rehab in Roseville, Illinois. She was born on July 31, 1923 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn N. and Alice (Anderson) Howver. She attended primary school at Brannon and Fairview Center and later graduated from Monmouth High School with the Class of 1941. Audrey also attended Western Illinois University, obtaining her teaching degree. On September 10, 1944, Audrey married Robert W. Sprout at the Fairview Center United Brethren Church. Robert preceded her in death on April 10, 2014. Audrey began teaching children at the one room schools of Coldbrook and Phelps. She also enjoyed working with the pre-school children at Sue's Sunshine Place and attending the KYN Club. Audrey enjoyed the Jennie Killey Warren County Home and Community Education Group which she was a lifelong member. A longtime member of the Fairview Center United Methodist Church, Audrey taught children's Sunday School classes and also the Martha Circle. She enjoyed her family, reading, sudoku, crossword and jig saw puzzles. Audrey is survived by her children; Milo (Jan) Sprout of Monmouth, IL, George (Peggy) Sprout of Monmouth, IL, Kay (Stan) Jenks of Monmouth, IL, Sue (John) Endsley of Rochester, IL, and Todd (Chris) Sprout of Kirkwood, IL. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brother Keith Howver, and sister-in-law Genevieve Rose.

A funeral service is planned for 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Fairview Center United Methodist Church. Her family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday evening at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment will follow the funeral service at Lenox Union Cemetery.
