Virgil R. "Ron" Bogener, age 59, of Moline, Illinois, passed away at 2:55 PM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Unity Point Manor Care Center in Davenport, Iowa. He was born on October 3, 1956 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Virgil A. and Betty Lou (Armstrong) Bogener. Ron was raised and educated in Monmouth. He was a graduate of Monmouth High School and was on the wrestling team while in high school. Ron proudly served his Country with the United States Army in which he was a Spec 4. He was previously married to Jetti Marie Babcock. Ron was first employed as a shop foreman for Munson Transportation in Monmouth. He then worked for a number of transportation companies in Monmouth, Cedar Rapids, and Rock Island throughout his career. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. Ron is survived by his step father, John Gary Budd of Galesburg, IL and three sons; Chad (Nancy) Skees of Roseville, IL, Aaron (Ashley) Bogener of Des Moines, IA, and Steve Babcock of Vinton, IA, and one daughter, Jessica (Zach) Turnbull of Gosport, IN. There are three brothers; Thomas (Sharon) Bogener of Moline, IL, Bill (Ronadene) Bogener of Rio, IL, and James L. (Pamela) Bogener of Folsom, CA, and one sister, Janet (Neil) Bergman of Fresno, CA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. His family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation will then be accorded. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established by his family.
