Glen L. “Roy” Setser


Glen L. “Roy” Setser, 74, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 12:32 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born on August 12, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the son of Roy Clarence and Helen Louise (Montgomery) Setser.  Roy was raised and educated in Chicago.  He served in the United States Army.

Roy married Selma Ann Hart in Milan, IL on October 15, 1987, she survives. 

Roy was a self-employed decorator for many years, specializing in wallpapering and painting. He later worked at Jamison Community Center, and Central Jr. High School as a custodian.

He was of the Baptist faith.  Roy enjoyed painting, building bird houses, fishing, traveling, open wheel and stock car racing. 

Roy is survived by his wife, Ann Setser, three daughters; Leah Burke, Robbin Niner, Vera McDonald, two sons; Roy Setser, Jr., Robert Setser, four step daughters; Julie Braet, Kimmie Smith, Tracey Smith, Janet Damewood, and one step son John Foreman.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Setser of Ft. Collins, CO, two brothers; Jerry (Jeanette) Beal of Gurnee, IL, and Bill Setser of Grand Lake, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law, Marilyn Setser.
