Glennda Susan Driffill, 68,
of Galesburg, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center,
Peoria.
Glennda was born August 27,
1947 in Galesburg, the daughter of Glenn Otto and Gloria Marie Shiner
Carothers. Glennda married Gerald G. Driffill
on July 20, 1965 in Monmouth. Glennda is
survived by her husband, Jerry of Galesburg; her mother, Gloria of Galesburg;
one son, Glenn (Tracy) Driffill of Galesburg; eight grandchildren; and 9 great
grandchildren with one on the way.
Glennda is also survived by two brothers, Paul J. Carothers of Atlanta,
GA and James (Jean) Carothers of Galesburg; and three sisters, Mary K. (John)
Simkins of Galesburg, Annette (Mike) Johnson of Gilson, and her twin sister,
Anita (Mike) Norris of Galesburg. Glennda
was preceded in death by her father, Glenn on July 4, 1998; a daughter,
Christine K. Williams on February 7, 2007, and a brother, Tony Carothers on
January 11, 2006.
Glennda graduated from the
School of Cosmetology at Carl Sandburg College.
While living in Sante Fe, New Mexico she taught Cosmetology. Glennda then went on to manage different
Motel 6 hotels, settling in Colorado Springs, CO. After moving back to Galesburg in 1997,
Glennda and Jerry babysat their great nephew, Joseph for several years. Glenda loved to work in her yard, tending to
her flowers. She was a talented artist
and loved to personalize letters and envelopes she sent to her family and
friends. She was a member of Corpus
Christi Catholic Church. When she was
little her photo was submitted to the O.T. Johnson’s most beautiful baby
contest and she was chosen as the winner.
Glennda had a great love for cats.
Most of all, Glennda loved being with her family and having family get
togethers.
Visitation will be 10 to 11
a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory,
Galesburg. Memorial services will follow
at 11 a.m. Father David Rosenberg will
officiate. Memorials may be made to the
