Harry E. Gulick, Jr.


Harry E. Gulick, Jr. 77, of Monmouth IL died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

He was born May 15, 1938 in Monmouth, IL the son of Harry Edward Sr. and Grace (Means) Gulick.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth.

He served with the United States Army as a Private First Class from April 12, 1956 to April 16, 1959.

Harry married Alyce Crain Holeman.

Harry was self-employed. He owned a car lot in Monmouth and a new and used furniture store in Galesburg.

He enjoyed playing cards, reading, watching westerns, horse racing, going to the casino and old country music.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and was always on the go.

Survivors include his 4 daughters, Tracie Gulick of Little York, Stacie Davidson of Monmouth, Mary (David) Blake of Kirkwood and Nicki Gulick of Alexis; 2 sons, Ronald (Shelly) Holeman of Galesburg and Joe (Tina) Holeman of Monmouth; grandchildren, David (Chris) Wooters, Jennifer Russell, David Olomon, Jacob Gulick, Justin (Amber) Olomon, Jonathan Gulick, Cullen Linze, Amanda (Cory) Thomas, Shannon Holeman, Ronnie Lee Holeman, Christy (Tim) Flynn, Joe Holeman, Cory Poulson, Drake Stanaland, Ryker Toops; numerous great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Melvin Nickols of Monmouth, IL, Dean (April) Nickols, Oquawka, Charles (Linda) Nickols of Burlington, IA; 2 sisters, Sandy (Gary) Burkett of Monmouth and Lois (Charlie) Piller of Aston, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, George Nickols and Lonzo Nickols; 2 sisters, Paulie Ann Nickols and Linda Montroy; his grandson, Nathan Elliott.
