He was born June 22, 1940 in Monmouth, the son of Joseph Lowell and Lova (Neil) Sallee. He married Doris Snyder Drovesky on March 29, 1981 at Coldbrook Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Doris; three sons, Jeff Sallee of Lynn Center, Scott (and Rebecca) Sallee of Altona, and Todd (and Deb) Sallee of Victoria; a daughter, Susan (and Mike) Davis of Colona; two step sons, Steve Drovesky of Milan and Tom (and Luann) Drovesky of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; a step daughter, Joan (and James Anderson) Maston of Rock Island; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one step grandchild; four step great grandchildren; a brother, Neil (and Dorothy) Sallee of Normal; and a sister, Carol (and Bill) Totten of Alexis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rex was a welder at John Deere Harvester for 30 years. He also farmed in Coldbrook Township. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Rex coached baseball for the Alexis Little League.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel with Pastor Rick Warren officiating.
