Mr. James W. “Jim” Walker, 68 of Henderson, Illinois, died 8:15 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born September 6, 1947 in Galesburg to James B. “Brownie” and Marjorie E. Lynn Walker. He married Elizabeth J. Arnold September 14, 1968 in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James R. (and Jill) Walker of Oneida, Illinois and Cody J. Walker (and Melissa Allen) of Oneida, a daughter, Michele J. (and Clyde) Charles of East Galesburg, a brother, Paul (and Diane) Walker of Galesburg, a nephew, Steven Walker of Galesburg, seven grandchildren, Zakkery Charles, Xander Charles, Ashleigh Walker, Logan McMahill, Todd “Moe” Walker, Colten Walker and Madison Walker and two great grandchildren, Senna Charles and Jacob Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jacob Walker.
Jim worked for Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 40 years and retired in 2005. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal in 1967. He is of the Methodist faith. He was a certified first responder and volunteer fire fighter in Henderson. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting on the family farm and fishing at the cabin in Wisconsin and Lake Story at home. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle every morning from Henderson to Wataga, rain or snow.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. There will be no funeral service.
