E. Lorraine Peterson

E. Lorraine Peterson, 81, of Stronghurst, IL passed away at 1:50 p.m. Friday May 27, 2016 at the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. She was born on March 3, 1935 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Kenneth F. and Eva Marie Dixon Johnson. On November 3, 1952 she married Gear Edward "Skeeter" Peterson in Gladstone, IL. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2007.
Lorraine attended school in Gladstone. IL. She worked for over 30 years as an office manager at Wilson & Associates in Stronghurst. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and canning. She especially enjoyed meeting on Thursday afternoons with her sister and friends to do craft projects. She assisted her sons as much as possible with the "Mexico Mission", building homes for impoverished people. She was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Lorraine loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul, and did her best to serve him faithfully. Her greatest wish was that all people would come to know Him personally. She was ready to meet her Lord, and talk with Him.

Survivors include, one daughter, Karen (Rod) Nichols of Stronghurst, three sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) Peterson of Biggsville, IL, Quentin (Kris) Peterson of Stronghurst , Pat (Janet) Peterson of Stronghurst, two daughters-in-law, Debbie Peterson of Stronghurst and Patty Peterson of Knoxville, IL, 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Madge Wheatley of Stronghurst.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, Jeffrey and David Peterson and one great-grandson, Zachary.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Stronghurst Cemetery with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. No formal visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab and the Mexico Mission. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
