Glenn R. Rothzen, age 85, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:10 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016 at his residence in Monmouth. He was born on May 8, 1931 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Knute Einar and Esther Marie (Issacson) Rothzen. Glenn attended school at Center Grove Grade School and graduated from Kirkwood High School with the Class of 1949. He proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force. On December 5, 1954, Glenn married Marjory Carolyn Dobey in the Kirkwood United Presbyterian Church and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2013. Glenn farmed grain and livestock in Warren County his entire career. He was the third generation to work the family farm. He was a life member of the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, serving many functions with the Church. Glenn served as chairman of the beef committee and was active with the Warren County Prime Beef Festival for many years. He loved to travel and play cards with his family and friends. Glenn is survived by two daughters; Sarah (George) Haynes of Monmouth, IL and Carolyn Rothzen of Chicago, IL, one son, Dale (Rita) Rothzen of Kirkwood, IL, four grandchildren; Eric (Jessica) Rothzen, Kevin (Tera) Rothzen, Lauren (Justin Huff) Albert, and Rachael Albert, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Marie Livermore of Roseville, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Marjory.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Glenn's family plans to receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth.
