Marie D. Pease

Marie D. Pease, age 92, of Monmouth, Illinois, formerly of Alexis, Illinois, passed away at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on February 10, 1924 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of William J. and Edith C. (Mallory) Pheiffer. Marie attended schools in Monmouth and Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School. On July 20, 1946, she married G. Leonard Pease and he preceded her in death on February 29, 2012. Marie worked at J.C. Penny, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA, Y.M.C.A. in Monmouth, and Carl Sandburg College as a basketball scorekeeper. She also was a gifted wedding reception coordinator. She worked along side her husband Leonard at their farm for many years. Marie loved her grandchildren, crocheting, needlepoint, antiques, and gardening. She also bowled in leagues for many years with the Winkler Feeds team. Marie is survived by her children; Lynn (Kris) Pease of Alexis, IL, Loren (Jeanette) Pease of Geneva, IL, Mary Lou Pease of Alexis, IL, and George M. Pease of Monmouth, IL, seven grandchildren; Brock, Lacey, Lori, Robbie, Tina, Tracee, and Emma Sells, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and one brother, Raymond Pheiffer of Galesburg, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews are also surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two brothers.

　

A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Norwood Presbyterian Church in Mercer County, Illinois. Her family plans a visitation from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Interment will follow the Saturday service at the Norwood Cemetery.
