Riley R. Johnson

Riley R. Johnson, 78 of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore, IL.

Riley was born November 2, 1937 in Cave City, KY. the son of Harry R. and Irene (Norman) Johnson.  He was raised and educated in Roseville, IL and graduated from Roseville High School in 1956.

Riley married Shirley Slusher on March 17, 1957 in Raritan, IL and she survives.

Riley’s career began at Farmers Grain in Roseville, IL.  He was later employed by Growmark as a sales manager for Ogle County FS and Schuyler-Brown FS.  He served as general manager of the Menard County FS, Grandview FS and Northern FS before retiring in 2002.  He was a member the U.S. Army Reserves, Polo Jaycees, Polo Lions Club, Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 and the United Methodist Church.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson of Monmouth; 4 children, Mark (Kelly) Johnson of Tinley Park, IL, Diane (Wesley) Englehart of Compton, IL, Dana Dailey of Milan, IL and Todd (Anne) Johnson of Davis Junction, IL; 4 grandchildren, Will, Erin, Matt and Emma; 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Archie; 2 siblings, Tom Johnson of Galesburg and Joann (Jack) Brown of LeCanto, FL, sister-in-law Mary Johnson of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings, Dolores Randolph, Gerald Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment will be at Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home where his family will be present one hour prior to the services.  Memorials may be given to the Lincolnshire Place.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
