Caroline G. McCurdy




Caroline G. McCurdy, age 87, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 8:48 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Amboy, Illinois, the daughter of Eno L. and Caroline K. (Keefer) Aschenbrenner. Caroline was reared and educated in Amboy, graduating from Amboy High School. She then received her B.S. in teaching from Illinois State University. On June 20, 1953, Caroline married James G. McCurdy in Amboy and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2015. Caroline worked as a teacher at the Aurora East School District. She later was a substitute teacher in the Monmouth Dist. #38, Yorkwood, Warren, and Ottawa School Districts. Caroline was a long time member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. She was a member of the Warren County H.E.A., the O.S.F. Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary, and was a past member of the A.A.U.W. Caroline is survived by two daughters, Beth Swedeen of Madison, WI. and Lynn (Billy) Grooms of Monmouth, IL., one son, Mark (Lora) McCurdy of Petersburg, IL., seven grandchildren; Amelia and Cara Swedeen, Megan, Andrew, Katie, Michael McCurdy, and Amanda Bowman, and one brother, Conrad Aschenbrenner of Lanark, IL. Two sister-in-laws, Martha Mosher of Washington, IL. and Annie Aschenbrenner of Rochester, IL also are surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and one brother, Charles Aschenbrenner of Rochester, IL.
 

A memorial service is planned for 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. A memorial fund is being established for Faith United Presbyterian Church or the O.S.F. Holy Family Medical Center Auxiliary. Cremation is being accorded.
