Catherine M. “Cathy”
Hootman, 53, of Wataga, died unexpectedly at 7:48 p.m. Monday, August
22, 2016 in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center in
Galesburg.
She was born March 17,
1963, in Kewanee, the daughter of Oscar J. and Patricia I. (Calsyn)
DePauw. She married Benjamin E. Hootman Sr. on August 5, 1989 in
Altona.
She is survived by her
husband of 27 years, Ben; her mother, Pat DePauw of Victoria; a son,
Benny (and Shanon Fonvergne) Hootman Jr. of Galesburg; a daughter,
Anna (and David McClay) Hootman of Galesburg; three granddaughters,
Harper, Emma, and Téa; a brother, Oscar (and Kari) DePauw Jr. of
Altona; a sister, Cheryl (and Rod) Mackie of Laura; and several
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and her
grandparents.
Cathy worked for Menards
since they opened in 2008 in the food and paint departments. She
graduated from ROVA High School in 1981. Cathy loved all animals,
fishing and camping, and crocheting and sewing monkey socks. She was
a member of the Hook and Bullet Conservation Club. She had attended
East Galesburg Community Chapel.
Cathy loved her family and
was enjoying being a grandma.
Visitation will be 5 to 7
p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg
Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel with
Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Victoria
Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Cathy’s name may be made to
