Goldie Louise Cameron, 87 of Abingdon, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Care Center of Abingdon with her family by her side.
She was born October 20, 1928 near Macomb, the daughter of Dale L. and Fern Hodges Badger. She married James Franklin “Frank” Cameron on April 26, 1947 in Macomb.
Goldie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank; two daughters, Diana K. Cameron of Morton and Lori (Brian) Rednour of Abingdon; two grandchildren, C.J. Singleton of Leesville, Louisiana and Cassie Singleton of Pittsfield; and one sister, Barbara Rial of Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and two sisters, Clorine Sheets and Joan Frakes.
Goldie was a homemaker and had also worked at Mickleberry’s Meat Processing in Bushnell, the Blue Bell Factory in Abingdon and at Gale Products in Galesburg until it closed. She had lived in Abingdon most of her life and spent her earlier years in Bushnell. She was of the Christian faith. She loved to watch the Chicago Cubs. She was a NASCAR fan and Jimmie Johnson “Lowes 48” is her favorite driver. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from
5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
