Mr. Warren E. “Chub”
Williams, 95, of Galesburg, died at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at
Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on July 22,
1921 in Galesburg to Dudley T. and Violet A. Smith Williams. He married Lottus Van Fleet in Galesburg on April
3, 1946. She preceded him in death on
September 14, 2009.
Mr. Williams is survived
by two daughters, Patricia Wright of Georgia and Roberta (Dewey) Wright of Sebastian,
Florida; five grandchildren, Brett (Amy) Wright, Aaron (Angela) Wright and Dan,
Scott, and Andy Wright; and six great-grandchildren.
He worked at Sears for 11
years, sold real estate, and worked for the Illinois Department of
Transportation for 18 years. He retired
in 1987.
He was a member of First
Lutheran Church, the Alpha Masonic Lodge #155, the Moline Consistory, the
Mohammed Shrine, the El Bon Shrine; the Past Watchman of the Shepherd, the Elks
Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, and the Robert Burns Lodge #113 in Keithsburg. He was a 1939 graduate of Galesburg High
School.
Chub served on the East
Galesburg Village Board and the Galesburg City Council. He was a long-time Republican precinct
committeeman. He was a member of the
International Right of Way Association.
He had been vice president of the Knox County Fair Association and served
as president of the Northern Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs. He also served as a director of the state
association. He was past president of
the Keithsburg Boat Club.
Masonic rites will be 10
a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral services will immediately follow with
Rev. Pamela Marolla officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial
Gardens. Memorials may be made to First
Lutheran Church or the Galesburg Masonic Lodge.
