Clarice Rae “Clare”
Curtis, 62, of Galesburg, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, September 1,
2016 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born June 14,
1954, in Kewanee, the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Johnson)
Peer. She married Burman Curtis.
She is survived by two
daughters, Sheila R. Curtis of Galesburg and Helen M. (and Cherise
Eckel) Curtis of Omaha, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Halie Curtis of
Galesburg; and four brothers, Tom Shaw of Galesburg, Steve Peer of
Collinsville, Illinois, Bobby Shaw of St. Charles, Illinois, and
Ronnie Peer in Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and
her husband.
Clare had worked in the
kitchen at St. Mary’s Square before retiring. She was a member of
the Salvation Army. Clare loved watching old movies, knitting,
playing cards, and everything Elvis. She especially enjoyed her dog,
Spike.
Cremation will be
accorded. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 6,
2016 at the Salvation Army. Sharon Amick will officiate. There will
be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and
Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements for the
