John Frederick “Fred” Johnson, 92 of Little York,
IL passed away Tuesday September 20, 2016, 8:45 at Monmouth Nursing Home. He was born Sunday December 16, 1923 in
Little York, IL the son of Einar and Hilda (Fredrickson) Johnson. He married Bonna J. Parrish on February 19, 1950
in Monmouth, IL.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife
Bonna Johnson of Little York, IL; Children Janice (Greg) Hamberg of Little
York, IL, Ronald (Jeanine) Johnson of Eldon, MO; Grandchildren DeAnna (Mark)
McCurdy of Alexis, IL, Amber (John) Kustermann of Denver, CO, Christina Johnson
of Hillsdale, IL, Johnathan Johnson of Monmouth, IL as well as 4 great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
sisters (Anna Johnson and Evelyn Ladwig), son (Larry Johnson) and grandson (Nicholas
Johnson).
Fred farmed in the Little York area all of
his life. He graduated from Little York
High School and two years at Brown’s Business College. Fred served in the Illinois National Guard
during WWII for two years. He worked on golf courses in Florida and
Aledo, IL. He worked for the city of Monmouth, and worked
at Walmart in Galesburg, IL. Fred loved
to hunt small game, ducks and deer. He
especially enjoyed fishing in Minnesota at Cedar Lake and Lake Kabetogama at
International Falls.
Funeral service will be Saturday September 24,
2016, 11:00 a.m. at the Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Home Monmouth,
IL. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00
a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be
in the Little York Cemetery, Little York, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Monmouth Nursing Home, the Hospice Compasses,
and/or Little Cedar Church, Little York, IL.
Wise Family ~ Hoover Hall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
