La-Tonya Jean Boggan Rogers, 40, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 6,
2016 in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born January 27, 1976, in Galesburg, the daughter of Eugene and
Yvonne (Hardges) Boggan. She married Trevor Rogers September 7, 2001 in
Galesburg.
She is survived by her parents, Eugene and Yvonne Boggan of Galesburg; a
son, Kaiell Rogers of Galesburg; two sisters, Yvette (and Marco Garcia)
Hardges Stapleton and La-Tashia Boggan, both of Galesburg; a brother,
Tyrone Hardges of Galesburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Early
and Inez Boggan and Deborah Hardges; great grandmother, Mary J. Hardges
Randall; an aunt, Edna Taylor; uncle and aunt, Early and Judith Boggan;
and a sister, Yolanda J. Boggan.
La-Tonya was raised and educated in Galesburg. She graduated from
Galesburg High School in 1995 and from Carl Sandburg College in 1998.
She had worked at Shopko, Dick Blick, and Galesburg Terrace, before
becoming a stay at home mother. She was a dedicated Christian who was a
member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible and
other books and playing tennis.
Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at
11:30 a.m. with Rev. Lewis Woods officiating. Cremation will be accorded
following the funeral service. A repass will be hosted immediately
following the funeral service at First Lutheran Church on the corner of
Seminary and Water Streets. Memorial contributions may be made to an
